Weekly Update

As part of our new website being launched, we will provide weekly updates for any news from the Golf Centre and competition results from that week.

23rd September-3rd October

Course Maintenance/Information

Temporary winter greens have now been cut out by the greenstaff on every hole. This is just in preparation for the winter months and only if needed will they be in use. The greens are GUR so if your ball comes to rest on them then please move it to the side and play your shot from there.
From the 1st October, lift, clean and place will be in use. This is in play from the fairway and closely mown areas around the green. Any ball in the first cut and rough is play it as it lies.

Competitions

The final midweek competitions saw a thrilling finale to the 4BBB summer competition. With 6 of 8 scores counting over the summer, Jordan Winstanley and Sam Stokes needed a 3rd consecutive high score to have a chance of beating John Gustafson and Colin Hadwin to the title. Jordan and Sam scored a fantastic 29 points to not only win their 3rd 4BBB competition in a row, but claim the 4BBB summer league by 1 point. A stunning comeback throughout the summer from Jordan and Sam, who have now qualified for the Champions of Champions event.

Saturday also saw the inaugural Brian Doyle Trophy take place between staff and members. Played as a Ryder Cup style event over three lots of 9 holes, all 24 players enjoyed the day and was played in great spirits. The staff had a storming singles session to come from 7-5 behind to take the trophy 13-11. Full write up of the event is available on the news and all results available on the website.

Sunday's competition was the monthly strokeplay and it was Aintree's longest member with the victory. Les Marsh scored a fabulous nett 65 to pip Iain Craig (nett 66) by one stroke to take the win.

On the same day, the ladies played their stableford competition and it was the in-form Annette Softley who took the win with a superb 20 points. She finished 3 points clear of Christine Hatton in second place who scored 17 points.

This weekend see's the Champion of Champions event take place. 16 players are competing for the title. Good luck to all involved!!!
